This time last year we ran a vote to find out the most popular local search blogs of 2013. Rather than create a popularity contest we wanted to help curate an essential bookmark / reading list, to help keep on top of the constant changes in the industry!
As you can see from the results, Mike Blumenthal’s popular blog came out on top with 17% of the votes, and rounding up the top 3 were Phil Rozek’s ‘Localvisibilitysystem‘, followed by Search Engine Land in third. The vote also gave us a top 20 to Local Search blogs keep tabs on – which was bookmarking gold for the months ahead!
As we come to the end of 2014, we now want to find out if that list has changed. Who have been busy bloggers in 2014? who’s brought you the best news on Pigeon, local ranking factors, Google My Business & other important updates?
Have your say now & tell us which are your favorite Local Search blogs of 2014.
How have these sites been picked?
The shortlist above includes blogs that we read regularly here at BrightLocal. In addition, we’ve obviously added in the blogs that were used in the 2013 vote, as long as they are still actively publishing Local Search content.
Why hasn’t “X” site been included?
If we’ve missed out one of your favourite sites, it either means that we’ve stupidly left them out by mistake… or they’re not STRICTLY Local SEO focused blogs. We know some of the sites above are not 100% about Local Search but in those cases they’ve made the list because they regularly publish enough Local content to warrant an inclusion.

If you think we’ve made a glaring error & missed someone BIG, then please tell us in the comments section below. Or… if you think we’ve left out a great newcomer to 2014, then likewise tell us, and if it’s not too far into the vote we can add them in.
