When you find a service provider that truly goes above and beyond expectations you can’t but help to let everyone know. The backstory: I have been a customer of Yahoo’s webhosting services for almost 20 years. I have endured countless changes in their ownership changes over the years and the migration of their call support center to India. On Friday of last week our WordPress based website crashed and I could not gain access to it due to a failed plug-in that corrupted our website to the point that it was no longer viewable online or accessible. I spent almost 2.5 hours on the phone that Friday with the Yahoo support center in India in 2 different call sessions and they could not fix the problem. They told me they would need to elevate the case and it could take up to 5 business days or more to get back to me and there was no guarantee that the problem would be fixed. Like many small firms, we live and die by our web presence. It is how clients find us and engage with us. So having our website down is catastrophic. It was now just past 5PM on a Friday. I searched the internet for local Atlanta based WordPress website solution firm and was drawn to Newman Web Solutions by its countless glowing reviews. I called the company and got their receptionist and she put me through right away to Sam Newman the company’s owner. Mind you it’s now well past 5PM on a Friday. Sam didn’t have to take my call. I wasn’t a customer (yet) it was late in the day on Friday and most folks are ready to start the weekend by this time. Most folks would have let the call roll to voicemail or put me off till Monday. But Sam took the time to understand my situation. He could sense my frustration. Being mindful of the time of day I asked Sam if we could meet sometime early the following week so he and his team could possibly help. Without hesitation, he noted that he understood the time sensitive nature of the situation and volunteered right on our call to take a look at the issue. After proving him access to our hosting account and providing him some details about the situation he was able to address the issue in less than 15 minutes during our call. He even suggested some helpful solutions about our website during his cursory tour of our site. When I asked him what I owed him for his services he only asked that he have the opportunity to win my business down the road. Because of the nature of my business, I know the value of someone’s time. Sam didn’t have to take my call nor help out someone who was not even a customer or client, but he did. I walked away from that interaction blown away by someone who took the time to help address my situation even though I was not a customer. That is service and dedication to your craft.
