I had the unfortunate opportunity to work with Beck and Alex from Vanta Studios on two custom website build outs. I work as a freelance web developer and a friend of mine brought me in to try and wrangle something useful out of the mess Beck and Alex had made. What I stepped in to was absurd. My friend needed a fairly straightforward e-commerce site with some video lesson integrations, and instead of using an out-of-the-box solution Vanta talked them into rolling their own custom version. After tens of thousands of dollars spent, all Vanta had to show for it was a coming soon/splash page and a few non-functional, static HTML pages. My friend had also paid them thousands of dollars to shoot and edit video, and as of this moment they have yet to see finished video that they paid for. Well over a year after being billed. Vanta outsources their web work, which makes turnaround times insanely long (if they ever get done at all) and the communication pipeline basically impossible to navigate. They did not help my friend navigate this work with any kind of milestones or project timelines. We had to create our own Asana projects to try and keep them accountable. After years of "development," my friend is out tens of thousands of dollars and Vanta will not provide any code or video. We are pursuing litigation. In my 10+ years in the web development industry, I've never encountered such blatant scam artists. Do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs.

I was the lead project manager for FCD DIRECT working on a cannabis tech project in the Bay Area. We hired Beck and Vanta Studios to build our website platform. We realized very soon after making a $10k deposit payment that they were not the right team for the job. Beck agreed to take the money knowing it was way beyond their developers skill level. He forced our hand into outsourcing development work to Ukraine, when he has zero control of his sub contractors. He does not code himself so he has limited knowledge in the process, which made communication VERY difficult. There was no SOW or development schedule provided. This led to long gaps in between deliverables and in the end nothing was completed. This process took over 8 months time and thousands of dollars spent with nothing workable to use. Yet Beck skated off into the sunset with close to 20k. Our company had no website to work off of so it contributed to us to close the doors. If Beck hadn't dropped the ball and been more transparent, I would still have a job with FCD today. Be weary of this snake oil salesman.

Working with this marketing agency was an absolute pleasure. They took our ideas and developed a stunning, modern website that perfectly represents our brand. They were incredibly responsive and always willing to make revisions until we were completely satisfied, and they were also able to create a website that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also easy to use. I was looking for creative and digital marketing services for a fashion brand in Los Angeles. With Vanta Studios, I found both. We shot stunning video and photography for our digital marketing campaigns and our website was streamlined so that our off-page SEO efforts flourished, with time. I recommend them!

DO NOT give this company a dollar of your money or a second of your time. We have paid them over $100,000 in the last year and we have SIMPLY decided that we no longer can afford to use their services, and they’re refusing to give us what we paid for because of $3k outstanding balance. BUT the 3k balance was to be paid with the contingency that the site would work per the agreed deliverable. We did not want to give them another dollar until we saw something work as every other dollar previous has just gone up into vapor. It’s taken almost 2 years to develop a website and we kept being strung along and have absolutely nothing to show for it. What startup can pay employees and mortgages for the full 2 years while waiting on their e commerce site?! I’ve even lost my business partner over this because he couldn’t hold on and wait. We made a 30k promotional video for the site a year ago! They try to act and charge as if they are a real agency but it’s actually a one man broker show. Beck gave us so many promises that his developers couldn’t deliver on. Other than some amazing (yet overpriced) promotional videos. Arguably their contractors Brian and Danny are great at what they do and they are VERY creative. They can make videos but NOT web development work. They charge top agency rates then Beck takes his cut prematurely and subs all the dev work out to cheap unreliable labor overseas. If they give you a quote prepare to pay 2x more they’re asking rate. Terrible pre qualifying skills will lead to an inaccurate quote every time. Alex is a pompous cocky web developer that doesn’t do development work he is just a terrible project manager. I would never want my customers to talk directly to him if I were to broker web work just because of his tone and demeaning attitude.
