Citation Builder Manual Submissions Time Halved + More Updates

UPDATE: As of April 2019, CitationBurst is now called Citation Builder

We’ve been working on some updates to our citation-building and cleanup service, Citation Builder, which I’m excited to share with you today.

1. Manual citation submissions time halved, from 14 to 7 days

Improvements to our processes and manpower mean that we can now guarantee that your citations will be submitted to business listings sites and directories within just 7 days from the time of purchasing the citation campaign.

What does this mean for you?

Quicker citation submissions means your or your clients’ businesses will have the greater online visibility they seek within an even shorter timeframe.

Within less than a week we’ll have performed the manual work of submitting your citations and will have started checking for live listings. Previously we’d been working with the already impressive 14-day submissions time, but I’m incredibly proud to say that with the hard work of our citations team we can now guarantee this shortened citations submission time.

2. Update citation reports manually to provide even more accurate reporting

Although we frequently check citations sites for live submissions, you might have found times when a citation has gone live before your campaign has been updated. With today’s update, you can now manually change the status of a citation from ‘Submitted’ or ‘Pending Approval’ to ‘Live’ and include the citation URL.

Just click the blue ‘two arrows’ icon to the right of the citation’s status to update it.

Then simply paste the URL of the live listing you’ve found and it’ll reflect in the report immediately!

What does this mean for you?

The next time you share a Citation Builder report with your team or client, you can be even more confident of accurate and up-to-date results. The ability to manually update listings gives you complete control over your citations reporting, and more citations means more happy business owners.

3. Add social profile links to citation campaigns

Some citation sites and directories, such as Foursquare, Manta, Bing, and Apple Maps, allow businesses to include links to their social media profiles within their listings. From today, you can now include social profile links to your business information (such as Name, Address, and Phone Number) when setting up a citation campaign.

This update covers links to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Instagram, but if there are other you need, let us know in the comments below!

What does this mean for you?

No more empty social profile fields in the directories that support them, and no need to manually add them yourselves. Social media profiles make business listings richer, and allow even more ways for interested customers to get in touch with or learn more about businesses.

Not yet used Citation Builder?

Renowned local SEO expert Greg Gifford recently told a conference audience that “citations are the table stakes you need to pay to enter the poker game of local SEO,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Not only is citation-building a foundational tactic to ensure widespread visibility of local businesses and appearance in the kinds of places your audience is already looking for you, but citation volume and consistency are still considered ranking factors for local search.

With these new updates bringing more speed, more control, and more features to Citation Builder, there’s never been a better time to start your first citation campaign.
