On Wednesday, September 26th we ran our second #LocalSEOChat, on the topic of Google algorithm updates. With the ripples of the August 1st update still being felt, we wanted to take the pulse of the Local SEO industry, to see how this update, dubbed the ‘Medic’ update, had affected local businesses.

A huge thanks to everyone who joined for the chat, and special thanks to Dan Leibson of Local SEO Guide for his excellent work hosting the chat and sharing his expertise and experiences. Here’s a recap of some of the most popular responses:

Q1. What was your experience of the most recent official Google algorithm update?

Q2. What sources do you pay attention to when Google algorithm updates occur?

Q3. How do you assess whether your business or clients have been impacted by an algorithm update?

Q4. What’s your approach to fixing issues uncovered by an algorithm update?

Q5. What challenges do you face when dealing with penalty recovery?

Q6. How can you prevent algorithm updates from being a potential problem in the first place?

Thanks to everyone who joined in!

It was great fun, really insightful, and has certainly inspired the agenda for our next webinar, which you can sign up to here.
